However, as of 9.15am all lines had reopened but services were still be affected until around 2pm.

Earlier, no trains were running from Hildenborough, Sevenoaks, Dunton Green, Knockholt, Chelfield, Orpington, Petts Wood, Bickley, Shortlands, Bat and Ball and Barming until works were complete.

There were also no services from East Malling, West Malling, Borough Green, Kemsing, Otford, Shoreham Eynsford, Sole Street, Longfield, Farningham Road, Swanley, St Mary Cray, Chislehurst and Elmstead Woods.

Services from Orpington to London Blackfriars, Sevenoaks to London Charing Cross and the Sheerness line were cancelled.

The Sheerness line reopened with the 12.23pm train from Sittingbourne to Sheerness and the 12.47pm train running in the opposite direction.

The usual routes from Ramsgate and Gillingham to London Cannon Street were diverted via Dartford and run non-stop between Rochester and London Bridge.

The service from Ramsgate to London Charing Cross only ran between Ramsgate and Ashford International.

Meanwhile, the service from Hastings and Dover Priory to London Charing Cross was reduced to one train per hour and only ran to and from Tonbridge.

Passengers were advised their tickets would be valid on high-speed services via Ashford International and Faversham, Southern services between Hastings and Ashford International, the underground, London buses and Docklands Light Railway.

Thameslink services could also not run between Blackfriars and Sevenoaks.

It comes as London Victoria remains closed until Monday, January 1, due to engineering work.

The Tilbury Ferry, which connects Gravesend and Tilbury, has also had to cancel its services today due to staff sickness.

The Southeastern network is running its Saturday timetable today (December 27).
