Paul O'Grady voiced his opposition to the Aldington lorry park at the opening of the school fete

Opponents of the Aldington lorry park scheme have got support from TV star Paul O’Grady.

Mr O’Grady, who lives in the village, branded the plan “rotten and disgusting” and said it would cause “bedlam.”

He openly declared his opposition in front of delighted villagers when he opened Aldington Primary School fete on Saturday.

He said he had opposed the plan since the beginning and was also against plans to open a recycling plant at nearby Sellindge, which he dismissed as a “sewage tank.”

He said: “I think it’s disgusting. We have got enough lorries going through the village and with this lorry park it’s going to be bedlam. It will decimate the village.”
