The host of ITV's Good Morning Britain, Kate Garraway, has thanked her "amazing saviours" from Kent Police for rescuing her after a terrifying ordeal on the motorway.
The 53-year-old TV star took to Instagram this evening to reveal how two officers took her and her children Darcey, 14, and Billy, 11, to safety after a blow-out.
It was the first time she had taken the youngsters out without husband Derek Draper, who still remains in intensive care after his high-profile battle with coronavirus.
He has recently woken from a coma after being struck down with the disease in March.
The presenter has spoken movingly about how she thought she might lose him.
Ms Garraway, who lives in north London, said: "Thanks to our amazing saviours Liz and Mark from Kent Police UK who rescued me after a full tyre blow out on the motorway.
"Never had one before - utterly terrifying.
"Managed to keep control of car but couldn’t get off motorway as no hard shoulder and when the AA said they couldn’t come for an hour, then rang after half an hour to say might still be an hour had no choice but to call the police.
"They were so brilliant and got us to safety and we are now on way home in taxi, shaken but safe, tow truck on way to car.
"It’s first time have taken kids out without Derek too, but we are safe and will update you fully on Good Morning Britain with Ben Shephard tomorrow from 6am."
Following the post, Kent Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Scott tweeted to say: "Nice recognition for Kent Police officers. Thank you Kate Garraway."
Station commander at Sidcup Fire Station, Chris Kendall, replied: "Massive well done to the Kent Police officers for helping Kate Garraway during her time of need.
"This poor lady has been through so much lately that it’s about time she had some good luck in her life.
"Those little acts of kindness shown by your officers will never be forgotten."
