A busker who regularly sings in Ashford town centre has released his first album.

James Ronayne , 31, whose distinctive gravelly singing can be heard outside Boots and the 99p Store in the High Street, finished the 10 track record at the start of the year.

His debut rock and metal album, called Show Me The Light, is available on iTunes for £7.90.

Mr Ronayne, also known as Punky Jimm , started busking in towns across Kent four years ago after quitting his job as a cleaner at Tesco in Faversham.

The former Chaucer Technology School pupil said: "I am a self-taught singer, songwriter and guitar player who has been busking virtually everywhere between Dover and Brighton promoting my own songs on an acoustic guitar.

"I began this venture four years ago with the aim of making a living out of music, more importantly, performing my own songs in the way and style I've always wanted them to be.

"It's good working for yourself because you get to choose your own hours. Some weeks you make more money than others but it's only me and my cat Scrumpy Jack I've got to support!"

Mr Ronayne, of Bob Amor Close, Faversham, said: "This was my brainchild. It's about life really, the light and the darkness put in a philosophical kind of way."
