Welling United 1 Thurrock 1

Lacklustre Welling will get another chance of making the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup after Saturday’s dismal display against Thurrock.
The Wings struggled to cope with their Ryman League Premier Division visitors, who are now managed by former Gillingham boss Mark Stimson.
Indeed, it was Stimson’s son, Charlie, who headed the visitors into a fourth-minute lead after he had the freedom of the penalty area to round off a sweeping passing move.
Loui Fazakerley and Jack Obersteller both drove forward in a bid to raise Welling’s performance but it was a standard set-piece which got them back on level terms.
Obersteller’s deep right-wing corner was nodded in at the far post by leading scorer Ross Lafayette.
Thurrock sent a teasing free-kick across the face of the Welling goal before Fola Orilonishe headed wide at the far post before half-time.
Stimson sent a cross-shot across the face of goal two minutes after the break and then created room for himself just after the hour mark, but dragged his effort wide.
Welling hit the bar late on through substitute Scott Kinch but, in truth, there was only ever going to be one winner in the last 10 minutes and the Wings will be happy to have another attempt at progressing in Tuesday’s replay.
