Speculation over Andy Hessenthaler's replacement is already mounting with a host of names in the frame.
Former coach Mark Robson, currently at Peterborough, is among the favourite with the bookies to make a return to Priestfield.
Robson (pictured) was in the stands on Saturday to see Hessenthaler's final game as manager, a 2-0 win over Morecambe.
Former Rotherham boss Andy Scott is a potential while Martin Allen - who applied last time the position was vacant - is looking for a job after finishing last season as caretaker manager at Barnet.
An outside bet would be Ebbsfleet's Liam Daish, doing wonders on a shoestring budget at Stonebridge Road, but it is understood he could be on the verge of agreeing a new contract at the Blue Square Bet Premier side.
Former manager Peter Taylor led the Gills to promotion in 2000 and would be a popular choice, although he is managing the Bahrain national team.
Steve Tilson, another recent visitor to Priestfield, enjoyed a successful period with Southend and is out of work at present. Other names connected to the club include Lawrie Sanchez and Sean O'Driscoll - a favourite for the Crawley job.
Vote below for who you think should be the next man in the Priestfield hot-seat?
