BRANDS Hatch could witness the closest ever finish in British Superbike Championship history this weekend.

The championship will be decided over two races at the Kent circuit on Sunday with three riders entering a winner-takes-all scenario as they battle for the 2006 crown.

A mere nine points separate reigning champion Gregorio Lavilla (Ducati), Ryuichi Kiyonari (Honda) and Leon Haslam (Ducati), and with double points on offer for each race this weekend the stakes are high.

Lavilla sealed last year’s championship at Brands, while Kiyonari and Haslam are bidding for their first title.

Elsewhere, John Hopkins will try to beat the outright lap record on his Rizla Suzuki MotoGP bike.

There is also action from MotoGP, the British 125cc Championship, the Supersport Championship, the National Superstock Championship and the French Super Roadster Cup.

Advance tickets (from £20) can be bought by calling 0870 950 9000.

Race times:

10.30am British Superbike warm-up;
