A WOMAN is still in a critical condition in hospital today after an accident on the B2027 Stocks Green Road between Leigh and Hildenborough.

The woman was a passenger in a Nissan Micra car involved in a collision with a Post Office lorry early yesterday morning. She was flown to Maidstone Hospital by Kent Air Ambulance. Her condition was later described by police as "critical".

Another female passenger in the car was less seriously hurt but detained overnight for treatment at the Kent and Sussex Hospital, Tunbridge Wells.

Two men in the car, the driver and another passenger, escaped unhurt, as did the lorry driver. All four people in the Micra were from Essex. The accident happened just after 10.40am.

The road was closed for about four hours. Police have appealed for witnesses.
