Woman driver's great escape

THE driver of this car incredibly survived a serious road accident at Brambledown on the Isle of Sheppey. The 21-year-old woman was taken to hospital by Kent Air Ambulance following the crash.

Firefighters had to cut her from the wreckage of a blue Ford Fiesta before she was airlifted to Maidstone Hospital with lower back injuries, breathing problems and lacerations. However, her condition was not considered life threatening.

The woman driver of the other car, a grey Peugeot, was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital in Gillingham with chest injuries. Lower Road at Brambledown, between Minster and Eastchurch, was blocked for more than an hour following the collision.
