A former Medway council officer is facing jail after downloading indecent images of children and possessing extreme pornography.

Andrew Shea, 42, of Tavistock Close, Rainham, admitted 10 offences of making indecent photographs of children between April 2008 and October last year when he appeared at Maidstone Crown Court today.

During the same hearing, Shea also admitted three charges of possessing extreme pornographic images between January and October last year.

He was suspended from his job within the council's leisure services following the police investigation.

The court heard the images of children covered all levels of seriousness.

Sentence was adjourned for reports but Shea was warned by Judge Philip Statman that prison was an option.

He was released on bail until July 2.
