Andy Barcham has fond memories of playing Stockport and he’s keen on inflicting further pain on the League 1 strugglers on Saturday.
Two goals for the forward a year ago in the second round replay of the FA Cup at Edgeley Park set up a date with Aston Villa and helped put Gillingham on the path to promotion.
Barcham said: "It was a freezing cold day and I didn’t feel too good but I came away with two goals.
"It was brilliant to be playing in that game and for me to score two goals as well.
"We knew it was a big game and going into it we knew what it meant for the fans, the club and us. We knew what was waiting for us."
Barcham is now hoping to help the Gills to league success tomorrow (Saturday) and he knows how important the next few games will be.
He said: "We need to get some points on the board. It’s not nice being down there and if we get a win all of a sudden we’re pushing up the table."
