Gills boss Andy Hessenthaler won’t be letting his players sulk after Saturday’s setback at Priestfield.
Gillingham saw their four-game winning streak come to an end after losing 4-3 in injury time to Crewe.
But with just 11 games left and the Gills only one point off the play-offs places, Hessenthaler knows his side can’t afford to let one result affect them.
"We are disappointed but we can’t be too down about it," he said. "We have to go again, we have to recover. We have been on a decent run and it’s just a shame it’s come to an end.
"The boys fought hard and had we kept 11 men on the field then we might have gone on to win the game.
"The players shouldn’t be too down about it. We have been on a terrific run and we could have easily got something out of the game."
A win would have seen the Gills return into the play-off positions as results went their way.
"That is frustrating as, with (seventh-placed) Oxford losing, we could have made them pay. That is always the way, when there is a chance of capitalising, we end up messing it up.
"But with results going okay for us that should keep our spirits up."
