Gillingham manager Andy Hessenthaler believes his squad is capable of promotion without the need for new additions.
The Gills lacked the financial clout to enter the transfer market before the deadline shut on Monday night but it’s not something that Hessenthaler is overly concerned by.
“We definitely have a squad of players that can achieve something this year,” he said.
“We didn’t do any business but we have a very good squad here. Rightly so the chairman has said we are over budget, but he said if there was something that jumped up and hit us and we felt we could do it, then he would have done it.
“But he’s pleased with the squad and I’m pleased with the squad. We are looking good. We are disappointed we haven’t gone away with three points (on Tuesday) but we just have to keep it going.”
Defender Simon King played 90 minutes.
