Manager Andy Hessenthaler was left to rue a missed opportunity after Gillingham were held to a bore-draw by Bradford on Saturday.

With leaders Southend also dropping points at home, the Gills could have reduced the gap between themselves and the top to nine points.

Hessenthaler, pictured, said: "We didn’t turn up. It’s an opportunity missed but we have only lost one game at home this season.

"It could have been a lot worse. We have gone up a place, kept a clean sheet and we keep the unbeaten run going.

"The teams at the top are doing fantastically well but I do say one of those, or all three of those, will have a (bad) spell."

The Gills were missing influential midfielder Danny Jackman with a groin injury but even he, admitted Hessenthaler, may not have helped.

"As a midfield player he may have spent a lot of the game watching the ball go over his head. It was one of those days where you needed a neck brace," added Hessenthaler.
