Gillingham aim to halt their disappointing run of form at home when Port Vale visit Priestfield on Tuesday.

With Gillingham’s pitch passed fit to play Andy Hessenthaler’s team will be in action for the first time since winning in Macclesfield on December 11.

The win over Macclesfield was the Gills’ third in a row, all away from home, and now Hessenthaler (pictured) will be keen to end a run of three straight home defeats.

Injury concerns continue to blight the Gills with Jack Payne back on the treatment table after twisting his ankle in training last week. He was due for a return after breaking a bone in his foot.

Also on the sidelines are Dennis Oli (hamstring), Chris Palmer (knee), Tony Sinclair (foot), Mark McCammon (ankle), Mark Bentley (foot), Dean Rance (foot) and Connor Essam (ankle).

Hoping to make a return to action will be Andy Barcham, Garry Richards and Curtis Weston, while Simon King remains hopeful of taking to the field once more for the first time since the League 2 play-off final in May 2009.

Port Vale, who occupy second place in League 2, remain under the management of former Gills player Micky Adams, despite the Valiants giving Sheffield United permission to talk to their man about the vacant position at Bramall Lane.

Kick-off at Priestfield is at 3pm.
