A stolen horse which is used by its owner to raise money for a children’s charity, has been found safe and well after an anonymous tip off.
Carla, a chocolate brown rodeo horse which is used in a display team to raise money for Demelza House Children’s Hospice in Sittingbourne, was stolen from her yard in Meresborough Road, Rainham, at about 7pm Wednesday.
The police were alerted and the Medway Messenger carried an appeal on this website.
Then on Friday afternoon her owner Tina Bull received an anonymous phone call from a man saying he knew the people who had taken Carla and they wanted to return her.
Tina was then told to drive to a rural area on the outskirts of Gravesend. There she found Carla tied to a lamp post by an old electrical cable.
Tina said: "When I got the call I was with my daughter and we just held each other and cried. I told the man I didn’t care who took her and that no questions would be asked as I just wanted her home.
"It was just incredible to find her. She still had the rug on her back that she had on the night she went missing. She’s well and she couldn’t wait to get in her box and come home.
"I think the fact there was an article on the Medway Messenger website about her disappearance plus everyone in the horse community putting up posters and texting other horse owners about her disappearance and urging them to be on the look out that the people who had her decided to give her back.
"I still can’t quite believe that she’s back. It’s overwhelming. People have been so amazing and deserve a pat on the back.
"I’ve contacted the police and told them she’s been returned and that I don’t want to take any further action."
