A man who claimed he was attacked by a gang of teenagers has been convicted - of assaulting the same youngsters.

Anthony Moore, 62, said he was attacked by the group in Lydd last December.

Four boys - two aged 17, one 14 and another 13 - were arrested, but released without charge.

A police investigation then found evidence Moore, of Megan Close, Lydd, had actually been the attacker.

Now Moore has been found guilty of two common assaults in Coronation Square last December by Folkestone magistrates.

He was ordered to carry out 100 hours' unpaid work and pay £900 costs.
