A YOUNG motorcyclist from Strood who was killed in an accident on the M25 has been named as 20-year-old Joe Cave.

Mr Cave was on his way home when his Honda motorcycle was involved in a crash with at least one other vehicle near the Kent-Surrey border.

Mr Cave’s 17-year-old female pillion passenger suffered minor cuts and bruises but was treated at East Surrey Hospital, Redhill, for severe shock. No one else was injured.

The accident happened just after 5pm on Friday June 27 on the East-bound carriageway, between junctions five and six, near the Godstone turn off and the Clackett services area.

Surrey Police, who are investigating the crash, are still trying to trace a silver car which did not stop. They have already spoken to the driver of the other vehicle involved, a white van.

A spokesman for Surrey Police said: “It is believed to be an estate car and the driver may have vital information about what happened.

“The crash occurred when Mr Cave’s red, white and blue Honda swerved from the outside lane into the inside lane of the motorway and collided with the white van.”

It is believed part of the car’s index is GX51 and there were two people in the car.

Inspector Dick Joyce said: “We have been told that there may have been some kind of incident involving the motorcycle and the car prior to the collision.

“We are appealing for the driver to come forward and talk to us. It may be that they are completely unaware of the collision and that is why they have not contacted us.”
