Appeal after large theft of cash from pub

DETECTIVES today issued the image of a man they are keen to speak to in connection with a burglary in which takings were stolen from a public house.

The burglary occurred between 12.45pm and 1.10pm on Friday, July 13, at the Eagle Tavern in High Street, Rochester.

It is reported that several thousands of pounds in cash was stolen after a man trespassed into the living area of the pub.

Det Con Mike Seager said: "I would like to urge landlords to be mindful of where they keep their takings so that they can prevent thefts.

"Our investigation is ongoing and we are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have information that will be useful in this case.

"In particular, we would like to hear from people who saw a man acting suspiciously at around the time of the incident.

"He is described as being white, aged between 30 and 35, around 6ft 2in tall and of heavy build. He wore a baseball cap and a black T-shirt with a large white motif on the front.’
