Appeal after man dies in van tragedy

KENT Police have appealed for witnesses after a man died and two others were hurt when a van overturned.

The tragedy happened on a sliproad leading to the Wainscott bypass near Rochester at about 8pm on Friday.

A crew from the Kent Fire and Rescue Service freed the trapped men after the driver appears to have lost control of the silver Transit van which careered up a bank and rolled over.

The man who died was a passenger in the vehicle. The two other men, the driver and another passenger, received minor injuries. They were taken to Medway Maritime Hospital at Gillingham for treatment.

The identity of the dead man has not yet been released. An inquest will be held.
