BRITISH Transport Police are appealing to members of the public to help identify two men wanted for questioning over a staff assault at a train station in Kent.

Intelligence officer Alex Barnwell said the incident happened at Rochester station at 8.19am on Tuesday, August 15, after a female member of staff attempted to stop two youths from travelling after they failed to produce a ticket.

He said: “The youths were stopped by the staff member for failing to produce a ticket. The railway protection officer was then assaulted and was struck to the head, knee and ankle.

It would appear that this was a mindless attack on a woman who was just trying to do her job."

The 40-year-old victim was left with bruising and shock after the incident.

“We are appealing to members of the public who may have been at the station or who may be able to identify the two youths in these CCTV stills to contact us.

“The pair is described as being white/European, in their early 20s and both had stocky builds. One was 6ft tall and was wearing a white baseball cap and white tracksuit. The other was 5ft 10inches tall and was wearing a dark blue tracksuit.”
