Appeal after savage street attack

POLICE are appealing for information after a serious assault on a 32-year-old man in Chatham.

The victim was attacked by two thugs as he walked along New Road with a friend on Saturday, July 26, between 2am and 2.15am.

The men punched the victim and his friend, resulting in the victim receiving injuries to his jaw, hand and bruising to his face. He was beaten so badly he was taken to East Grinstead Hospital.

Medway Police are looking for two white men in connection with the assault. The first is described as 5ft 8in, stocky build with brown cropped hair. The second was 6ft 1in, with black hair in a curtain style and was wearing a red or pink coloured check shirt.

PC Craig Hewitt has urged anyone with any information to come forward. He said: "This was a particularly nasty attack and has caused a great deal of distress to the victim."
