A YOUNG mother has been assaulted while walking with her baby on an isolated road. The 18-year-old woman was walking along Broadley Road in Margate with her one-year-old son in a buggy.
She was approached by the driver of a tractor who was working in a nearby field. He asked if she needed any help with the buggy.
She said no and carried on walking. Someone then approached her from behind and assaulted her. The woman struggled free and the offender ran off.
She continued walking towards Dane Valley Road where a member of the public stopped to help her. The woman was not seriously hurt but because she was grabbed from behind could not give any description of her attacker.
However, police would like to trace four people who may be key witnesses. Officers would like to speak to the tractor driver who spoke to the victim.
They would also like to trace two men, thought to be aged in their twenties, who drove past the victim before the attack. Their vehicle was described as a small silver hatchback.
The victim also remembers seeing a young man, possibly aged in his late teens, walking along the road, talking on a mobile phone.
Witnesses to the is attack, at 11am last Friday, are asked to contact DC Lee Goodey at Margate Police Station on (01843) 222148. Anyone with information can also call Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
