TWO young men were killed last night after their silver T-registration Peugeot 306 collided with a tree in Teynham, near Sittingbourne.

The two men, who came from Faversham and Sittingbourne, died at the scene. They were both aged 21. Formal identification has not yet taken place.

A police spokeswoman said the force of the impact was so great the car was nearly broken in two. Their car hit a tree in the garden of Mockbeggar Farm at about 11.40pm last night between Deerton Street and Stone Railway Crossing.

It had been heading towards Sittingbourne from Faversham. An ambulance and two crews from Faversham Fire Station attended. Swale police has appealed for information about a second car that could have been involved in the accident.

Insp Peter Huseman said: “The two cars may have been travelling together. It’s vital anyone who saw this vehicle and possibly a second vehicle on this road or travelling together earlier in the evening to contact us as soon as possible on 01795 584040.”

The car was towed away by Swale police and an investigation is being held to establish how the car left the single carriageway road.
