Appeals after 2 die in road crashes

A BOY in his late teens and a motorcyclist have died following separate road crashes in the county.

The teenager was fatally injured in a two-car collision involving a blue Mini and a silver BMW on Bedgebury Road, Goudhurst, near Tunbridge Wells, on Friday morning. The boy who was fatally injured was a passenger in the rear seat of the Mini. He was taken by air ambulance to Maidstone Hospital where he later died.

A second passenger in the same car, aged 17, suffered a serious head injury and was taken to the Kent and Sussex Hospital at Tunbridge Wells.

The driver of that car, also aged 17, was treated in hospital for an arm injury. The driver of the other car was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Three ambulances, two from Cranbrook and one from Tunbridge Wells, the air ambulance, and an officer Steve Rose, attended the scene.

Mr Rose said later: “This is a very tragic outcome to a terrible car crash. All the crews worked extremely hard to ensure a positive outcome but unfortunately it was not to be. Our sympathies are with the family at this time.”

In the other tragedy, a man was killed after his Suzuki motorbike was in a collision with a VW Golf.

The collision occurred at around 6.45pm on Thursday on the A20 London Road at Aylesford, at the junction with Teapot Lane.

The car driver suffered shock, but escaped serious injury.

Members of Kent Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses to either of the crashes to contact them on 01622 798538.
