ROMANTIC women of Kent are reminded that February 29 is officially ladies day.
As 2008 is a leap year, it is a chance for girls to get down on one knee and pop the big question to their men.
Ever since Queen Margaret of Scotland passed a law in 1288 that on February 29 all women were allowed to propose to any single man they wished - and the men who refused were fined up to £100 - the role reversal of women proposing to men has become a fun tradition around the world.
Last leap year, in 2004, Caroline Rogers, from Chatham, plucked up the nerve to ask boyfriend Richard Suckling to marry her while she was live on air having just won a radio competition. The couple wed on April 17 the same year.
If you are planning to make this February 29 a day to remember with a grand gesture, please contact KentOnline with your leap year love stories.
