AN ARMED robber escaped with cash when he targeted a bookmakers in a Kent town.

A man pointed a small handgun at a member of staff at William Hill in Tankerton Road, Whitstable, at around 5pm on Saturday.

After putting the cash in a carrier bag the man made off from the premises towards the sea front.

The robber is described as about 5ft 10in tall, of thin build and clean shaven. He was wearing a beige baseball cap and sunglasses.
