Arnie's panto date terminated

This 10-year-old boy has sparked a row after his bad behaviour led to his school saying "oh no you can't" to him attending a pantomime.

Oak Trees Community School says that Arnie Smith’s disruptive behaviour the day before the pantomime left them with little choice but to exclude him the following day.

But his mother Tanya Smith, 43, of Huntingdon Road, Coxheath, has complained that the punishment was unfair on her son, who has ADHD.

She agreed her son should have been punished after breaking a fire escape door and climbing out of a window - but felt the school, in Mangravet, Maidstone, could have shown more Christmas spirit.

Head teacher Anne Tammas-Williams said: "It would not have been appropriate to issue the exclusion at a later date as this would have failed to deliver a clear message that such behaviour is unacceptable."
