Arrest after man is found with serious head injuries

A man is in hospital after being found lying unconscious on a Kent street with serious head injuries.

Police were called to Sturdee Avenue, Gillingham, at around 10.40pm Friday.

The man - who police say is in his 40s - was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital. His injuries were initially thought to be life-threatening, but he has since regained consciousness and is said to be making a good recovery.

The road was closed for forensic examination until early Saturday morning.

A man is currently in police custody in connection with the incident.
