Arrest after pedestrian struck by car dies

A MAN is in police custody after a female pedestrian was killed on a Kent high street.

The 30-year-old victim was taken to hospital with serious head injuries after being struck in Beckenham High Street, at the junction with Manor Road, just before 9pm on Friday.

She was pronounced dead at around 12.30am on Saturday. Floral tributes have been left at the scene.

A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
