Asbestos found at library

A BEXLEY library has been found to contain asbestos.

The dangerous material was found during a routine inspection of Welling Library, on Bellegrove Road.

Traces of asbestos were found on the surfaces of the basement walls but air tests have proved negative.

The basement has been closed until cleaning work can be carried out by the council’s specialist contractors.

A council spokesman added: “There is no evidence of asbestos in any of the areas open to the public.”
