Ashford's four-match unbeaten run in South League Premier Division 2 came to an end with a 2-1 defeat at High Wycombe.

The visitors looked jaded from the start and if it was not for the man-of-the-match performance by goalkeeper Keir Starley, they would have lost more heavily.

Ashford went behind when the home side passed through their defence to set up a diving tip-in.

Rob Playford then equalised from a penalty corner after good work by Andy Hill.

The game then fell flat for 20 minutes but High Wycombe secured the three points when they were awarded a debatable penalty.

As a result of thwe defeat, Ashford dropped to fifth place going into the Christmas break but they are still very much in the promotion mix.
