An Ashford man has been remanded in custody after appearing in court in connection with a crash that killed a 16-year-old girl.

58-year-old Brian Hampton is charged with causing death by careless driving, failing to stop and driving while disqualified. He is due back in court tomorrow.

Jade Clark had been riding her moped along the A31 near Ashley Heath when she was in a collision with a car on February 24.

She died from head injuries.
