DETECTIVES have released an e-fit of a man involved in what they describe as a "disturbing incident" involving two girls.

The incident began when the girls were followed home by two men acting suspiciously.

The men loitered around the house in Ploughman's Way, Rainham, until they were challenged by the mother of one of the girls.

It is alleged that one of the men then assaulted the 43-year-old mother before running away.

The incident occurred between 11pm and 11.30pm on Friday, July 20.

Police spokeswoman Sally Smith said on Tuersday: "We are continuing to appeal for information and, as part of our enquiries, an e-fit of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident has been created."

Det Sgt Terry Easterby said: "I would like to ask people to look at this image and contact us if they recognise the man. All calls to us will be fully researched and you do not have to leave your name.

"This was a disturbing incident for all concerned and we are keen to ensure we do everything we can in order to make an arrest."

One of the men is described as being white, aged between 20 and 30-years-old, 5ft 10in tall, of medium build with short, brown hair cropped on top and brushed back. He appeared to have a ‘monobrow’ eyebrow and small brown eyes. He was wearing a black T-shirt with a round neck under a red fleece top.

The other man is said to be white, in his late 20s or early 30s, of medium build with shoulder-length straight, brown hair that was parted in the middle. He was wearing a black jacket that may have been suede or leather.
