Assistant manager Mark Robson doesn’t believe his role in Mark Stimson’s coaching set-up at Gillingham will have a bearing on the new season.
Andy Hessenthaler has taken over as manager at Priestfield with Robson, pictured, retained by the club as his number two – a step up from his position as coach last season.
But the 41-year-old, who played for Tottenham, West Ham and Charlton, does not believe that it will have any effect.
"It’s a winning business and you need to be winning to survive," said Robson, who will sign a three-year contract.
"At the end of the day, winning games is what football is about.
"I don’t think we need to bring anybody up manager-wise. We need to get a team out that will roll their sleeves up and fight for the shirt, particularly in the league we’ll be in.
"I’m looking forward to the challenge, it’s new and something different, and I’m sure we can create a good feel around the club."
