RAC Legal Services has issued its SCENE code to advise motorists on what to do if they are involved in an accident. RAC Accident Care’s SCENE code makes it easy for drivers to remember the five most important things to do immediately if they are involved in an accident.

S top the vehicle, turn off the engine and apply the handbrake

C heck if all the occupants are OK

E xamine your vehicle for any damage

N ote the time, date and location of the accident

E xchange details of your vehicle make, model and registration number as well as your personal details with the other party
