A man accused of attempting to murder a woman in Eastchurch has appeared at Maidstone Crown Court.

Robert Griffin is alleged to have tried to kill Marilyn Finch at her home in Bramley Way on March 9.

The 32-year-old, of Sea View Gardens, Warden, is also accused of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

Mrs Finch, 41, was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital with gunshot wounds to her legs. She was later discharged.

Griffin, who appeared in court via a TV link with Elmley Prison, was remanded in custody until May 25, when he is due to enter pleas.

Mr Justice Akenhead set a provisional trial date for July 12.
