Luke Rooney celebrates with Ian Hendon at Torquay Picture: Barry Goodwin
Gillingham assistant manager Ian Hendon was pleased to see his side recover from a "sloppy" opening from their League 2 match at Torquay.
The Gills conceded early with a clanger from keeper Alan Julian but battled until the end and eventually their hard work paid off.
Hendon pointed to the side's renewed confidence as a reason behind their ability to now recover from set-backs.
Gills' number two, who spoke to the press after Saturday's draw in Torquay, also praised goal-hero Luke Rooney.
