Aylesford School held its Year 11 leavers' prom at Priestfield, Gillingham. Student Nicola Sharp reports.
THE night we had been waiting for and preparing for for months had finally arrived. With only hours to go the excitement was building up so much you had to scream. Once all dressed up in our posh outfits, hair done and surrounded by friends we made our way there in our arranged transport. Some chose limos, while others got lifts.
As we walked towards the entrance we could see everyone in their frocks and DJs, standing on the steps having their pictures taken. Every face had a grin from ear to ear.
Once in, we posed for more pictures and, as the two doors to the dining area and dancefloor were opened, walked into a large room with chandeliers. Everyone sat down to the starter of melon and then tucked into the main meal. Mouths watered as profiteroles were placed in front of us. Then it was time to work off the calories.
The music began to break from the speakers and people rose from their seats to the sparkling dance floor.
Everyone was moving and when the 70s hits were played the teachers emerged from the darkness and began to move their hips, some more slowly than others.
So much dancing was taking place that some girls had to take off their shoes just to carry on.
The end was coming so when the conga came on people were dragged from the chairs and paraded around the grand hall.
The last song played and the lights turned on. Slowly everyone dispersed outside. Limos pulled up and people jumped in with the same energy they had when they arrived. All apart from the teachers!
It was great, better than I expected. I will remember it and so will everyone else.
Thank you Sue Hobba and Rob Hancock for arranging this.
