An eight-month-old baby has been sent a polling card to vote in the local elections.

But having only just mastered crawling, reaching the polling booth to cast a vote might be a little beyond Chloe Halladay's capabilities for now.

Mother Jemma Nash, of Perryfield Street, Maidstone, suspected it was an April Fool's Day prank at first when the voting form arrived on April 1.

The 25-year-old play group assistant said: "I thought it was a joke.

"When I got the polling card, I found it funny, but when it dawned on me, I felt angry. I realized anyone can get your details."

The family had received 'Vote yes to AV' canvassing letters just a day before they received the polling card.

And more interestingly, Chloe received another letter, 'Vote no to AV', while her parents received none.

Jemma went to Maidstone council which blamed her partner Steve for registering Chloe's details on the electoral roll without filling in her date of birth.

As a result, the council presumed Chloe was 18.

Miss Nash added: "They did not say if they will delete the name. They said nothing but blamed on my partner.

"They should not presume she is 18. They should double-check.

"I am now waiting for a credit card application (addressed to Chloe) to come through."
