A warning has been issued over baby food being sold in Tesco stores that may have been tampered with.
Across the country, the supermarket giant is recalling 15 varieties of Cow & Gate 200g baby food jars, meant for tots aged seven months and above.
Parents who have bought the products are being told not to feed them to their child, but instead return them to the store for a refund.
The decision, announced by the Food Standards Agency, has been taken as a precaution following concerns that some jars may have been tampered with.
The varieties which have been recalled are:
Butternut Squash Chicken & Pasta 7+ months
Courgette & Hake Rice 7+ months
Yummy Harvest Chicken 7+ months
Apple Crumble 7+ months
Banana Crumble 7+ months
Peach Apple & Kiwi 7+ months
Rice Pudding 7+ months
Creamy Cauliflower Cheese 7+ months
Garden Pea & Turkey 7+ months
Potato Spinach & Beef 7+ months
Potato & Turkey Roast 7+ months
Spaghetti Bolognese 7+ months
Succulent Pork Casserole 7+ months
Tasty Cottage Pie 7+ months
Tomato & Courgette Pasta 7+ months
The recall only involves these varieties sold in Tesco stores in the UK. No other Cow & Gate, Tesco or other branded baby products are affected.
The FSA has not provided further details about how the items may have been tampered with or why they might be dangerous for babies to eat.
Advice issued on the agency's website just said the "possible tampering of this product may present a safety risk".
