A BABY girl seriously injured in a traffic accident yesterday afternoon appears to be making good progress, police confirmed today.
The one-year old child was one of six people hurt following a collision between two cars in Hampstead Lane, Yalding, near Maidstone.
She was airlifted along with another injured woman by Kent Air Ambulance to Maidstone Hospital, having suffered what police described as life-threatening injuries.
A spokeswoman for Maidstone and Malling Police said the baby girl had enjoyed a good night and had began to show signs of recovery.
However doctors at the hospital are still concerned about the child's condition and are due to assess her again later this morning.
A two-year-old child and a three-year old child, plus two adults inside one of two Vauxhall Vectras involved in the midday smash, also suffered minor injuries.
The injured woman was kept in hospital overnight for observation but her injuries are not considered to be serious.
A stretch of road between Hampstead Lane and Lees Road was shut while investigations into the cause of the accident got underway. It reopened shortly before 4pm.
