New parents Phil and Aimee Holden have an extra-special Christmas to look forward to after the arrival of baby Alfred.
The couple, who are both dwarfs, have been trying to conceive naturally for 10 years.
They lost one child, Ben, a few years ago after he developed complications and have endured the heartache of miscarriages.
“There are high risks involved, which has been part of our history of trying for children,” said Phil, 32, who is appearing in the Marlowe Theatre pantomine, Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs.
“Alfred’s come along this year and we’re absolutely blown away.”
Alfred was born at the QEQM Hospital, Margate, and will grow to a full size adult as he is not affected by the condition known as Achondroplasia. Children born to dwarf parents have a 75 per cent chance of being affected.
The couple, who live in Shatterling, near Wingham, have another son Paddy, seven, who is adopted.
Aimee, 36, a professional actress, admits the birth went smoothly, despite not being able to carry Alfred to full term: “Everybody was brilliant, the doctors, the nurses, the whole lot.”
So will Alfred be following in his parents footsteps and stepping into the acting world?
“Maybe a rocket scientist would be better, but Paddy fancies himself as a bit on an entertainer,” said Phil.
