Britain's Got Talent star Kieran Gaffney came back down to earth with a bump today for the first day of a new school term.
The 13-year-old Walmer Science College pupil, who came third in Saturday's final, was back in the classroom for an RE lesson.
But the talented drummer, from Deal, only stayed there for the morning - before being whisked off by his dad for a series of TV interviews.
Kieran told how delighted to reach the semi-finals on Friday followed by the head-to-head show down on Saturday.
He was pipped to the post by comedy dancing duo Twist and Pulse and winners Spelbound.
Proud dad Sean Gaffney said: "We’re still coming down and we can’t get our heads around it.
"We went up there on the Thursday and a lot has happened over the weekend but Kieran has gone to school this morning."
Having started drumming just 18 months ago, he entered the 2009 Britain’s Got Talent TV contest.
He didn't get to the semi finals, a decision judge Piers Morgan admitted: "We regretted."
This year, Kieran entered with parents Sean and Mandy who make up the family trio, Mixed Emotions.
But Kieran was given a second chance in the show if he ditched his parents.
Mr Gaffney added: "Just to get to the live semi-finals was big enough but to get into the finals was even bigger and then to get in the last three blew us away."
Five Kieran Gaffney support groups have sprung up on Facebook with one member saying: "It looks like he’s going to go far," and another joking that he should replace the gorilla on the Cadbury’s advert.
The live Britain’s Got Talent Tour now beckons the modest teenager.
Starting on June 19 and performing around Britain until July 11, Kieran wont be able to get out of his schooling.
"They’ll have a tutor on board so he can get on with his school work," he added.
