Nick Sandford with one of the bags of dog poo
by Tim Collins
As well as birds singing in the trees, there are also bags of dog poo swinging in the breeze on land at Ashford’s historic Godinton House estate.
Walkers have been greeted by the bizarre sight of plastic bags containing dog mess tied to hedgerows and trees.
The disgusting practice has angered Godinton's estate manager Nick Sandford.
He particularly dislikes the way uncaring dog owners are bagging dirt and leaving it hanging like 'baubles’ from hedgerows round the estate.
The estate's footpaths are widely used by walkers, with and without dogs.
But recently there's been a spate of bags containing dog mess left attached to the hedgerows or dropped in fields.
Mr Sandford said of the culprits: “Do they think there is a dog fairy who magically whisks these away?
"It is enough of a chore picking up cans, packets and wrappers dropped by a few walkers, but to collect bags of maturing dog poo is very unpleasant.”
