A man recovering from serious head injuries after a motorbike crash in Bali has become a dad.

Richard Plummer, 32, who grew up in Loose near Maidstone, has been in hospital since July last year, and spent a month in a coma.

His girlfriend Indria Arina, who is from Indonesia, gave birth to a baby girl on Sunday.

The couple have named her Tiana after the Australian woman who found Richard following the crash and called his parents and girlfriend.

Richard's father, Eric Plummer said: "Richard is absolutely besotted, he's so happy."

He added: "He's making a good recovery. This weekend he's coming to visit us at home for the first time since the accident."

Uninsured Richard was flown back to the UK for treatment at Maidstone Hospital at the beginning of August last year after a bike accident in Bali.

He was left with serious head injuries after the motorbike crash on July 1.

His travel insurance had lapsed at the time of the crash, prompting an emergency appeal to raise the £80,000 needed to fly him back to the UK in a specialist air ambulance.
