Balloon landing caught on camera

This spectacular image shows a hot air balloon making a landing behind houses.

Eagle-eyed Bryan James, of High Halden, grabbed his camera and snapped the picture which shows the balloon, from Leeds Castle near Maidstone, making a spectacular descent.

Mr James said: “We saw this balloon appearing over our roofs and getting closer and closer and nearer and nearer.”

The balloon came down in a field.

No one was hurt.

Mr James said: “Some of us who rushed outside were afraid that it was going to crash into the houses.

“It managed to land just clear of the back gardens but in collapsing it came very close to at least one roof.”

According to Steve Richards, operations manager of Leeds Castle Balloons, the flight was as planned.

He said: “It was a textbook landing and a textbook flight.

“It was a very soft, very gentle landing and the balloon was under very good and normal control.”
