Banknotes featuring images of King Charles III have been unveiled - and are set to be accepted at Kent retailers in a year's time.
The Bank of England has revealed the new designs including the monarch's portrait on its £5, £10, £20 and £50 polymer plastic notes.
His addition will be the only change made to the design of the notes.
Meanwhile, it has also been confirmed that existing cash featuring Queen Elizabeth II will still be accepted.
Bank governor Andrew Bailey said: “I am very proud we are releasing the design of our new banknotes, which will carry a portrait of King Charles III.
“This is a significant moment, as the King is only the second monarch to feature on our banknotes.
“People will be able to use these new notes as they start to enter circulation in 2024.”
King Charles's portrait will appear twice on the notes - on the front as well as in the see-through security window.
The decision to co-circulate the notes featuring images of him and his mother came from the royal household, which asked to keep the environmental and financial impact of the transition to a minimum.
The first legal tender featuring the King’s image will be the 4.9 million 50p coins set to enter circulation later this month.
