The owners of a bar have been given the go-ahead to hold erotic dancing despite claiming not to want the licence in the first place.

Trevor and Gaynor Layzell have been told their application to Swale council to operate a burger van from the car park at their Minster bar has been rejected but permission to put on entertainment including that of an “adult nature” has been granted.

Last week the Times Guardian reported how Mrs Layzell said she and her husband had applied for permission to put on plays, hold boxing and wrestling matches, and dance performances because they were applying for permission to run a burger van and an application for an extra licence would not cost any more.

They said as the licence covered adult entertainment it would be useful when they hold stag and hen nights as customers would be able to hire a stripper.

On Wednesday the council’s licensing sub committee said the couple could not run a burger van from the car park because of the potential smell and that it might encourage people who were not club customers to visit the site.
