League 2 leaders Gillingham's impressive start to the season on the road continued with a third successive away win when they faced bottom club Barnet at Underhill.
Martin Allen's trip back to the club he has managed three times in the past, including keeping them in the Football League last season, proved a good one, while things only get tougher for new Bees boss Mark Robson, the man many people tipped to replace Andy Hessenthaler at Priestfield in the summer.
More than 1,100 Gills fans made the trip around the M25 on another glorious September afternoon, and saw their favourites make the perfect start with two early goals in the space of 90 seconds of each other by Jack Payne and Danny Kedwell (pictured).
Bees pulled one back through Jack Saville's first league goal, but Deon Burton restored the two goal advantage before half-time.
Payne's strike was a stunning 25-yard effort after 10 minutes which hardly left the ground, leaving Bees goalkeeper Graham Stack motionless. Stack was picking the ball out of the net again seconds later when Kedwell rose unmarked to head in Charlie Allen's cross.
Barnet started well with young defender Callum Davies given a testing time in the air but, having gone 2-0 up, Gills looked in command.
However they were caught out at the back defending a corner, and Saville powered home a header to make the contest interesting.
Jon Nurse flicked a header wide of Stuart Nelson's goal, before Burton added the third shortly before the break after out-jumping former Gills defender Barry Fuller.
The second half was a good contest, as Barnet never gave up, but Gills had chances to add to their lead, with Charlie Lee heading wide.
Matt Fish was injured late on, and replaced by Tom Flanagan, but apart from that it was another good afternoon.
